fortune telling

Alchemist I talked about fung shui the other day.  Although I have a few fung shui stuff at home (no tortoise!), I have no idea what these things are for.  However, I do go to fortune teller (things like 八字 or 紫微斗數) occassionally.

We always want to know our future, even though we might not be able to change it.  I have just read the following from a book call "The Alchemist":

"Then, one day, the oldest seers he had ever sought out had asked why the camel drive was so interested in the future.

"Well… so I can do things," he had responded.  "And so I can change those things that I don’t want to happend."

"But then they wouldn’t be part of your future," the seer had said.

"Well, maybe I just want to know the future so I can prepare myself for what’s coming."

"If good things are coming, they will be a pleasant surprise," said the seer.  "If bad things are, and you know in advance, you will suffer greatly before they even occur."

We all live in the present, not in the future.  Quite right, isn’t it?

hm..hm..I feel I’m bit strange. I am not even interested in what’s going to happen tomorrow. I am interested in “NOW”! I know I am a very “grey” person inside.
