star of the month

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

The place where I live is quite famous of insects.  You can find almost all kinds of insects here…big ants, beetles, spiders, mosquitoes, moths, just to name a few.

Beetles are my cats’ favourite playmates.  You won’t surprise to see them jumping here and there to play (with) the beetles, like children in Toys r us.

My cats like eating moths (and butterfly… #_#”) though I always try to avoid it.

One moring when I woke up, I saw Allez holding some black thing in his month and approaching me.  When I cleared my eyes, I found that it was a cockroach… I almost scared to cry.  My bf said, this is a gift Allez gives me and I should appreciate it…(help!!)

Another time I saw a big mosquito.  I called Allez and he caught it with two "hands".  Bravo!!

Yet never seen them catching any spider.  Perhaps those spiders are too big.  The last time I saw a spider in my room (mind me, I only saw it legs and I ran away..), the legs are about 3 inches long (daddy long legs…).

But I have to say that those spiders are incredibly hard working.  I see a spider web on the roof every day even though I try to destroy it everytime I see it.  So can imagine - they are making webs every night.

A friend of mine who is also living in the suburb.  He told me that there is a big spider web in his balcony which divide the balcony into two halves.  He did not destroy it because he saw a good amount of mosquitoes being caught.

One day, he found that the spider left.  It left together with the spider web.

What can you say… it is hard working, it catches bad insects, and it leaves you no mess…

I would vote it as the star of the month.  Even though I don’t like it…

naive

Saturday, July 23rd, 2005

Honestly, I don’t have many friends who are in their early 20s, except for one or two.  They are quite mature from my point of view.

My friend’s girlfriend Y is a young Vietnamese lady.  She is about 10 years young than me.  Met her a few times and I got the impression that she is a clever girl. She came to HK alone when she was 18 without knowing a single chinese word.  Just for a few years and she can now speak fluent cantonese (can almost read the newspaper).   I am not sure how similar is between cantonese and vietnamese, but for sure that was not easy.

And she is now doing some business with support from her boyfriend.

And she is pretty.

One day E said to me that A’s girlfriend is too talkative, unlike Y, who is more lovely.

Well, my feeling was that - Y was sometimes too naive… she seems like asking questions and appreciates you knowing the answers.  She sometimes try to talk to you in an unnatural way…

The arguments were: (1) she is indeed very young; (2) she is not native.

I think that’s true.  And the implications are: (1) generation gap; (2) all men likes women at early 20s.  Especially the innocent ones.

unfair prejudice

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

The lecturer has spent a significant amount of time explaining that "unfair" and "prejudice" have to be interpreted separately.

However, I really can’t tell the difference… would there be just unfair (sounds ok to me) and fair prejudice?  How can one prejudices another one fairly?  If there is no definition, how could the court determine whether it is unfair AND is prejudicial?

Scratching head.

holy-day

Tuesday, July 12th, 2005

Divo Just realised that a holiday is actually a holy-day…!

OK then I am taking a few days leave from work coz I am attending a class in the evening.  The class requires us to attend from 6pm to 10pm, Monday to Friday so I think it is a good idea if I could take some rest in the day time. (seems like I have to convince everybody why I am taking a holiday but not going anywhere… :p)

On day 1:

- We brought Bally to the vet in the morning - it’s a big day for him!

- We had lunch in El Cid, followed by shopping of course.

- We then spent the whole afternoon in Hong Kong Records and bought (1) Eason Chan U87 - which is great!; (2) Classical Album 2005 - which is very value-for-money, $98 for 2 CDs with great songs and music; (3) IL DIVO  - which is marvelous!; and (4) 10 x discounted VCDs.

- Those CDs earned us a ticket for Disney lucky draw;

- Then tea at Azabusabo - and had a BIG sundae;

- During which I had about 5-6 calls to my mobile - all for work;

- Picked Bally home and he seemed starving.

–> went to school.

Afterall I think it was as tired as having classes after work.  Um should I start doing some studies now? :pp

sleeping

Sunday, July 10th, 2005

I consider myself as a normal person.  I usually go to bed at around 12-1am; and wake up at 6:45am.  I consider 6-7 hours sleep as normal.  I can’t go out at night as my body and brain will stop functioning after dark.  I am a day time person.

Even so, I don’t have problem with sleeping at all.  I can fall asleep within 5 minutes once I lie on bed and never wake up before the alarm clock rings.

In these days, normal is actually abnormal.  Most of my friends won’t go to bed until 3-4am and never wake up before mid-day (of couse in case of a non-working day).  They go out after 10pm and will never consider watching a movie when the sun is hanging over your head.   Coz they will only start calling people out at 4pm when they are really awake.  They can sleep whenever there is a gap between 2 appointments.  They can sleep all day when they have nothing to do on weekends.

I think it is a gift when you can sleep all day - coz I can’t.  I envy those who can enjoy night lives and can play really hard at night.

Please tell me this is not because I am getting too old…..:p

Coz I was taught to wake up early since I was a schoolgirl.

la vie

Wednesday, July 6th, 2005

We have almost forgotten, that we can choose our lives.

We wake up in the morning, go to work.  After 8 hours or 10, we go back home.  We sometimes dine out with friends, watch a movie maybe.  We go home late at night and sleep almost immediately.  Well online for a while perhaps.  Day after day, year after year.

Once we had dreams.   Once we were aggressive at work.

Year after year we found that lives can’t be easier.  We can make a decent living without spending a lot of effort.  We go to the office, and pretend to work hard.  Tell bosses whatever he wants to listen.  So on and so forth.  Problem is, you will be like this for the rest of your life.

You do something you don’t like in the office, and you still have sufficient time in doing whatever you like in the leisure time.  If you still have the energy.

You can choose to start a new life.  Giving up whatever you have.  Go to school and start over again from uni.  Problem is, whether you can, whether you can capable, and whether it worths.

A friend of mine has chosen this way.  I asked if he feels regret.  And he said no.

If it worths?  God knows…

siu keung

Saturday, July 2nd, 2005

I could have a number of more serious topics to write about.  As subtle as I am, I decided to tell you what I discovered on Thursday night when we left our friends home.

After I started the engine, before I left the carpark, I found that a siu-siu-keung was "standing" outside the window by the driver’s seat.  If I open the window, the siu-keung would "run" into the car.  But I can’t insert the ticket if I don’t open the window…

Um… it was a very "dangerous" moment.

Last time I saw another siu-siu-keung standing at exactly the same location.  I went to the gas station and asked the attendent to "clear" it for me.

So this time, I was waiting for a "hero" to come.

No one passed by.

Then I opened the door carefully.  Jumped out to insert the ticket, and jumped back, and closed the door quickly.

It was looking at me and I tried not to look at it.  But I couldn’t help myself from "staring" at it… until it was disappear from my sight.

Fortunately I have never seen any siu-keung "inside" my car so far (but, I saw once in a friend’s car - this is another story).  Otherwise I would have abandoned the car.

OK, today I washed my car.
