the perfect boy

Monday, May 30th, 2005

My friends know that I have only one genuine idol.  After I watched a local movie on TV, I started to understand why all my girlfriends like Daniel Wu so much.

The movie that I have watched was called "Love Undercover" starring Daniel Wu and Miriam Yeung.   Story was silly - just the type of "you-know-what-undercover-humorous-movie".  But what I wanted to say is the role of Daniel Wu - he was just a perfect boyfriend in the film.  Wealthy, handsome and whole-hearted.  What can I say?

If you watched it, you know what I mean.

weekend eatery

Sunday, May 29th, 2005

On Friday, I had a 4-hour-long dinner with friends in a private kitchen…. and almost turned the private kitchen upside down;

On Saturday, I had a 4-hour-long yum-cha with friends in a seaview Chinese restaurant… the first table to arrivev and the last table to leave;

On Sunday, I had a 2-hour-long tea buffet (our lunch) with a friend in a hotel.

After all these, I will need X hours of exercises this week….!!

bit torrent

Friday, May 20th, 2005

First of all, I never used bt before.

I think the software per se is not offending the law but how people use it.  However, Bt by itself might have created a medium for people to infringe copyright.

I am wondering how the line should be drawn.  I am thinking from a layman’s point of view…

- If I brought a DVD, I copied it and sell it to someone else.  Of course it offends the privacy law.

- If I brought a DVD, I copied it and lend it to my friend.  Is there a problem?

- If I brought a DVD, I lend it to my friend after I finished watching it, is it infringing copyright?

- If I brought a DVD, I ask my friends to come to my home and we watch it together… I think that should be alright?  We are not told how many licences are there unterlied in a DVD copy, I guess.

- If I brought a DVD, I ask my friends to come to my home.  And I charge each of them a small fee…

- If I brought a DVD, I ask my friends to come to my home, and I ask each of them to buy me dinner later on.

- If I missed a TV program and I ask my friend to record it for me…

- If I finished watching the tape and lend it to my friend…

OK, the inventor of bt said that he wrote the program was aiming at people sharing the document but not expecting people to use it as a medium to infringe copyright.  It’s all about sharing.  I remember mama told me when I was a little girl that we have to share our toys with our friends.

mr customer

Friday, May 20th, 2005

People is getting used to abuse of the customer services.

* Mr Customer said they require the service very urgently.  If the delivery cannot meet their unreasonable expectation, it is our fault;

* Mr Customer said they require the service very urgently, better tomorrow.  We push every resources to get it done.  When we hand it over to Mr Customer, he said, "sorry, we are not ready yet."

* Mr Customer’s service needs to be repaired.  He said he wants a replacement.  We look into every corner and get one for him.  When we give it to him, Mr Customer said he can wait for few more days until it is repaired.

* When we talk about invoices….

- Mr Customer, we can deliver it to you tomorrow, and we will start charging you then;

- Give it to me first.

(after delivery)

- Mr Customer, here is the invoice…

- Did I tell you that I am not ready (to pay)?

hiding face

Monday, May 16th, 2005

One of the most embarrassing experience is - when you are wandering around on the street, with very casual outfits, with no make-up, with thick glasses, and you meet someone who supposed not seeing this kind of appearance in you…..

I was rushing to my facial appointment yesterday.  When I parked my car, I found that the driver next to me was my colleague (actually a senior staff).  As I couldn’t hide… I said hi to him as natural and as easy as I could.  Well… @_@’

tunnel

Wednesday, May 11th, 2005

I am trying to figure out if the toll rise on the Eastern Tunnel is reasonable.  Increase from $15 to $25 is 67% - prima facie unreasonable as compared to the comsumer price index.

I tried to look at some other places where there is a cross-harbour tunnel.

Sydney, for instance, has a 2,260m harbour tunnel.  Toll fee is A$3 (US$2.3);

There is a "cross-city" tunnel between New Jersey and New York called Lincoln Tunnel. Its length is 2,500m and the toll fee is US$5 (peak hours, and US$4 for off-peak).  But bear in mind, this tunnel is cross-state.

HK - Eastern Tunnel’s length is 1860m charges HK$25 (US$3.2); Western Tunnel’s length is 2000km charges HK$40 (US$5.1).

US$2.3/2260 : US$5/2500 : US$3.2/2000 : US$5.1/2000

It seems to be a bit expensive but not exaggerated.

However, I don’t believe that the purchasing power are the same in all three cities.  Comparing the big-mac index (Dec 2004), USA is $3; Australia is $2.46; HK is $1.54.  HK’s tunnel fee should be no more than HK$20 by comparing the purchasing power.

That is, the central tunnel.

weather

Tuesday, May 10th, 2005

10th May 2005 - I hate bad weather. Dsc02520

Yesterday was probably the worst day since 2005; since I moved to the beach; since I started my new job.  I hate raining when I forgot to bring an umbrella; I hate raining when I am holding an umbrella (when I have no free hand for coffee).  I hate raining when I am in high-heeled.

I like the sun.  I like the beach - though I don’t like swimming… hm…

The wind was destructive.  People were stucked in Kowloon side for hours.  The wind killed people.  Only good thing was, the wind saved the air-con charges.  But the wind blew me like crazy woman.
